Some users have complained that they are facing this issue for some time and after some days the screen stops flickering and works perfectly. Again, they are facing the same issue after one month or so. In this article, we are trying to list down the reasons for this problem and their resolution.

Reasons for the Screen Flickering Issue

  1. This may be caused due to some inconsistencies in the system caused by gaming applications or apps that require high CPU usage. Such apps can affect the services that handle the display leading to such issue.
  2. Due to some water damage, moisture can be trapped within the phone which may be causing this display issue.
  3. Due to some firmware updates, cache or some data may have been corrupted due to which the functionality of services are hampered.
  4. This might be a manufacturing defect or hardware issue like the flex cables connecting the motherboard to the display might be loose.

Troubleshooting for screen flickering issue

Restart Samsung galaxy J7 in Safe Mode and observe if the screen is still flickering

If some third party apps are the reason behind this issue, then this can be found out in this way.
  1. Press and hold the Power button until the Phone options is displayed and then release.
  2. select the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt.
  3. Select Restart and upon restart, Safe mode appears in the lower left of the unlock/home screen.
  4. After the phone starts, observe if the flickering issue is fixed. If this still does not fix the problem, then this might be firmware issue.

If this fixes the issue, then some third party app is affecting the display. Start uninstalling the apps one by one starting from the most recent one. To do this go to Apps-> Settings-> Application manager-> Select the app-> Uninstall.

Delete the system cache through the Recovery Mode.

Galaxy J7 also has an Android System Recovery mode by which you can fix firmware issues if you are not able to access the Android interface through the normal bootup process. You can delete all the System Caches. When those caches get corrupted but the device still uses them, the services can be affected.

  • Hold the power button to switch off the handset.
  • Once the handset is off, press and hold together: Volume Up + Home + Power key for a couple of seconds.
  • Release held keys when the Samsung Logo appears on the screen and the phone will start in the recovery mode.
  • Select Recovery Mode menu and then select "wipe data / factory reset" using Volume buttons to navigate up and down and Power button to confirm your selection.
  • Choose the option "Wipe Cache Partition" to confirm the reset.
  • Lastly, select the option "reboot system now" to restart your phone.

Lastly, if any of the above ways does to troubleshoot the issue, try to hard reset the phone. Back up your data before factory/hard reset as this will delete all the user data.
